Cone Beam Scanning
The cone beam is one method for x-ray scanning which entails and x-ray expanding from a fixed point to cast a shadow of the object being observed. This is very similar to the function of a movie projector except that the object being projected further from the beam. Projections from different angles can be taken by rotating the object being projected by the cone beam. This is often done for simple bone fractures. Another way to take projections from different angles is to rotate the beam itself around the object. This method is much more expensive and is used in CT scanning.
